A home in Ruidoso, New Mexico suffered major structural damage after a vehicle drove off a nearby hill and struck the exterior of the house. The impact caused significant damage to the exterior wall and roofline, exposing framing, breaking through the stucco system, and compromising the structural integrity of the home.
Situations like this require more than a simple patch or cosmetic fix. Structural damage must be properly assessed and repaired to ensure the home is safe, stable, and protected from further deterioration.
When we arrived on site, the damage extended beyond what was visible from the exterior. Sections of the wall had been pushed inward, framing members were compromised, and the roof eave and metal roofing system had been damaged by the impact.
The first step was removing all damaged materials. This included sections of stucco, sheathing, and framing that could no longer support the structure. Once the damaged areas were fully opened up, we rebuilt the wall framing to restore structural integrity and ensure everything was properly aligned and secured.
After the framing was repaired, we moved to restoring the exterior wall system. This involved reinstalling proper backing, applying new stucco materials, and matching the existing finish so the repair blended seamlessly with the rest of the home.
The roof repair required removing damaged sections of metal roofing and rebuilding the affected eave structure. Once the framing and fascia were restored, new roofing panels were installed to match the existing roof and provide a durable, weather-resistant finish.
By the end of the project, the home was fully restored. The structural components were rebuilt correctly, the exterior matched the original appearance, and the roof system was replaced where needed to ensure long-term protection.
Projects like this highlight the importance of proper structural repair. Damage from vehicle impact, storms, or other events often goes deeper than what is visible on the surface. Addressing the underlying structure is what prevents future issues and protects the home.
